What is Daylight Savings Time and Why do we do it?

Why Do We Change the Clocks???

Millions of people around the world adjust their clocks twice a year as part of Daylight Saving Time (DST). But what exactly is DST, and why do we do it?

What Is Daylight Saving Time?

Daylight Saving Time is the practice of moving the clock forward by one hour during the warmer months (SPRING FORWARD), and turning it back again in fall (FALL BACK). This shift allows for more daylight in the evenings and less in the mornings.

Why Do We Adjust Our Clocks?

1) Save Energy: Longer evenings mean less need for artificial lighting.  (YES!)

2) Enjoy More Daylight: Allows for outdoor activities after work or school. (YES!)

3) Reduce Traffic Accidents: Increased daylight can lead to safer roads. (Maybe?)

When Does It Happen?

Spring Forward: Sunday 3/8/26 at 2AM

Fall Back:  Sunday 11/2/25 at 2AM

So this weekend, when you all have 1 or 2 watches and clocks to reset, we have to reset HUNDREDS of watches so they are all running and on time when you visit us!  Do you have trouble setting your watch?  Please stop in and let us help you!  If it’s quick and easy then we do it while you wait and at no cost.  Some of the Citizen watches are complicated and we need to spend some time on it, but that is definitely a service we provide.  Some digital watches will change the time themselves, but most will need you to turn the DST setting to off.

Thanks so much for stopping by and reading my BLOG!
