The Oris Aquis Date Caliber 400 represents the culmination of years of work for the independent Swiss watchmaker, who is now able to offer an in-house caliber with a specs list that will compete with any brand.
The Aquis should be a familiar face, with its handsome gradient blue dial and unidirectional bezel, but the movement inside is brand new and represents an exciting development for Oris and watch lovers everywhere. The caliber 400 isn't the first in-house movement released by Oris, but it comes in the most appealing package yet, with twin mainspring barrels that store five days of running autonomy, a brand-new escapement with a silicon lever and escape wheel, a more stable rotor system, and an anti-magnetic construction that's tested to 2,250 gauss. It's all backed by a 10-year warranty with a 10-year recommended service interval.
The quality of the movement inside doesn't come at the expense of the size of the new Aquis either – the watch's 43.5mm diameter and 13mm thickness is identical to many of the models already in the collection.
