The Cranston store is more than a showroom. It's our full service center, where every repair we take in — from a quick battery change to a complete mechanical overhaul — is performed on-site by our certified team of watchmakers and technicians. Major repairs are never sent out; they're done in-house with genuine parts, which means faster turnaround and direct accountability for your timepiece.
It's also our mail-in repair hub. Watches shipped from anywhere in the country are received, evaluated, and returned from Cranston, and it's where drop-offs from our Newport location come for in-depth work. The Cranston bench handles the full range of watch service: battery replacement, crystal replacement, band repair and sizing, water-resistance testing, movement overhauls, and vintage restoration. Batteries and bands are typically done while you wait. For larger repairs, we provide an estimate on the spot and, once approved, most quartz overhauls are completed in about 2–3 weeks and mechanical or automatic overhauls in roughly 6–8 weeks. Every movement repair is backed by a 12-month guarantee. Whether it's a $50 fashion watch or a treasured heirloom, it gets the same careful attention.

Three generations of Rhode Island watchmaking
The name on the door carries real history. Joseph Saltzman founded the Providence Watch Hospital in 1940, building a reputation for honest, expert repair. His son Richard grew up in the trade and took over in 1976. After selling that business, Richard reopened alongside his own son Evan in 2004 under the family name, Saltzman's Watches. Today the third generation continues that work in Cranston, combining old-world watchmaking skill with a modern, welcoming showroom. When you walk in, you're not dealing with a faceless chain — you're dealing with a family that has cared for Rhode Island's watches for more than eighty years, and intends to for many more.
